Robin announces factory Rotax powered DR401

Robin Aircraft has launched a factory-built Rotax 912iS powered version of its DR401.

The DR401-912iS is aimed at the flight school sector with three seats and a base price of €216,000 plus VAT for a VFR/Night panel fit.

The aircraft, part of Robin Aircraft’s ‘Ecole’ series, is fitted with a glass cockpit comprising:

  • Garmin G3X dual screens (10in and 7in)
  • GMA 350 Audio Panel
  • GNC 255 Nav/comm
  • GTX 335 Transponder

Nogaro Aviation’s Rotax version of the Robin DR401

CEAPR is installing the Rotax 912iS via its own Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), according to Mistral Aviation, the UK agent.

Average fuel burn of the 100hp DR401-912 is said to be 16.5 litres/hour which compares well with the Lycoming version of the same aircraft, and it can also use 95 octane mogas as well as avgas.

Cruise speed is said to be 94kt at a 75% power setting. Max weight 865kg, useful load is 365kg. Take-off distance 535 metres, landing distance 460m.
